50 Overrated Vacation Destinations

Guinness Storehouse

For those who enjoy their Irish beer, the Guinness Storehouse may appear to be a nice idea, but it is ultimately an overrated disappointment. The tourist attraction is a seven-story edifice featuring numerous exhibitions about beermaking, as well as a pint of Guinness included in the admission ticket. None of this makes it worth your money, because there is enough of information about how beer is manufactured available online. Go to a real pub with some locals and get a pint there if you want to get the quintessential Irish experience. It will cost you far less money, plus you will not have to walk seven stories to grab a beverage. You’ll probably have a lot more fun as well.

Boulder Beach

Another place that is nothing more than a glorified zoo is Boulder Beach. Because there is an admission fee, you will have to pay to visit the penguins. After paying your admission price to see some penguins up close, you’ll discover that you can’t get that close. You’ll have to watch the penguins from a paved boardwalk while avoiding other individuals trying to take the same photo. It’s better for the penguins since they can’t be bothered, but it doesn’t stop people from throwing food and other objects at them. It’s a horrible situation. However, if you travel a short distance to Seaforth, you may observe penguins without the crowds and without paying any fees. Win/win!

The Rocky Statue

It might make us feel better about racing up to the statue with that “Gonna’ Fly Now” music playing in our thoughts if it were indeed positioned at the top of those 72 iconic stairs in Philadelphia. However, because the statue isn’t there, you’ll be disappointed with this trip. Running up the 72 stairs to the monument at the Philadelphia Art Museum was formerly a custom, but the statue was relocated after officials concluded it wasn’t art. What a jerk! It’s now at some obscure location that you’ll have a difficult time finding. Nobody can deny that Rocky is a work of art.
