30 Awful Christmas Decor Trends

The Elf on the Shelf

The Elf on the Shelf is yet another frightening creature who visits our homes over the holidays. These blushing creepers “hide” themselves throughout the house during the holidays so that your children can find them. Anything to divert your attention away from your in-laws, right? At the very least, they’ll provide fodder for discourse. Elf on the Shelf began about 10 years ago and has since grown into a cultural phenomenon on par with Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Unlike the charming and lovable figures we usually see around the holidays, these cunning little elves prefer to create a ruckus in the house and…well, agitate your family.

Disney-Themed Christmas

There’s no reason to have a Disney-themed Christmas unless you have roughly 6 kids in your house on Christmas morning. But, seriously, nothing irritates me more than a Disney grownup! Mickey Mouse was adorable when you were five, but it’s time to move on. This isn’t Neverland. If you have to, watch a handful of Disney movies. A Disney-themed Christmas, on the other hand, is nothing but cheesy. Mulan, Lelo, and Stitch, as well as the 101 Dalmatians, have no place on Christmas morning. All they do is make everything appear ugly, just like those large corporate Christmas decorations. This holiday season, skip Disney and opt for something more sophisticated.

For decades, people have been making fake “snow.” They purchase it in sheets to place beneath their trees and even spray cans to frost their windows. Fake snow, no matter how you do it, is not the look. After all, we have no idea what that substance is made of! You may be unknowingly employing hazardous substances around your home. In any case, it’s tacky. We’re not suggesting that you go outdoors and bring real snow inside! Allow the snow to be beautiful as it is…
