Christmas Angels
What’s that on the Christmas tree’s top? Oh! How charming is a Christmas angel? We have no idea when the tradition of adorning the top of your Christmas tree with a devout Christmas angel began. We’re all for keeping traditions alive, but what does an angel have to do with the top of your Christmas tree? Besides, those old-school fancy porcelain angels gaze at you from across the room all during the holidays, creeping you out. As you stroll by with another piece of pie from the kitchen, they are judging you. Apart from the jokes, these winged cherubs don’t seem to say “good holidays” as much as they used to. Replace them with a pretty bow or something else.
Christmas Light Reindeer
These Christmas Light Reindeer, which many consider a Christmas classic, are just cluttering up the front yard. They’re beautiful stags standing ethereally in your front yard at night, but they’re just a bunch of odd pieces of plastic heaped on top of each other during the day. As if three of these bogus animals weren’t enough, folks now believe they need a whole herd, and we’re suddenly inundated with Christmas light reindeer! If you’re tempted to pick up a few of these at your local big-box store, resist. Remember, if you can buy it at Walmart, it’s no longer in style!
Over-the-top Nativity Scenes
A nativity scene is a small collection of figurines that depict the birth of Jesus Christ. They usually include a cute baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph, as well as three Wisemen. There are usually a few barnyard animals as well. Oh, and there’s the star! They’ll look great on your coffee table or on the mantle of your fireplace. But, like with other things, too much is simply too much. People think it’s awesome to recreate their nativity scenes in life-size replicas in their front yards for all to see. They even bring real-life animals and re-enact the scene with their family for the entire neighbourhood to see. This is simply excessive.
